Welcome to the Maintenance and Operations Department

Glendale Elementary School District is located in the west valley, serving the southwest portion of the City of Glendale. The District is bounded by 83rd avenue west, to 43rd avenue east, Olive to the north and Camelback Road south.

Presently there are 17 schools in the district, a district office and support center. The facilities total 1,437,621 square feet, on 300 acres, spread over 16 square miles. An additional 20 acres has been acquired by the SFB for the 18th school site, which will be constructed as student attendance increases.
The custodial staff constantly cleans and maintains 341,500 square feet of resilient flooring, as well as 850,000 square feet of carpet. They will paint the inside of 50 plus classrooms annually, and relocate the furniture and teaching materials in approximately 250 classrooms, before the start of each school year.

 Current News and Information

The Maintenance and Operations Department had a very successful 2008 with the opening of the Don Mensendick addition, and the pathway development of fiber optic installations, working in conjunction with the IT Department and their Director, Robert Werhanowicz.
The Project Managers also completed a variety of roofing projects, parking lot projects, and several security lighting enhancements.

Our district based maintenance staff increased their in-house maintenance projects 15%, while providing an additional 10% of the preventative maintenance associated with the SFB documentation, while working with a reduction in staff
