Welcome back to Challenger Middle School for the 2016-2017 school year! We are hoping that you had an enjoyable summer, and we are anxious to have the students fill our playgrounds and classrooms once again. With the start of another school year, each family will receive a copy of the Parent/Student Handbook and a variety of other documents during the first few days of school. I ask that you take some time to look over each of the documents carefully and return the required forms with your signature to your child’s teacher.
As a staff, we believe that open communication is important in order to guarantee a successful school year for your child/children. There are many opportunities for parents to participate at CMS. Parents are welcome and encouraged to become active members of the Parent, Teacher, and Student Association (PTSA). The PTSA supports a variety of school activities that enrich our school’s programs. Challenger Middle School also has a School Site Council which is comprised of parents and teachers. CMS will also hold monthly Coffee Talks with the Principal. This is an informal opportunity to meet and chat with our Assistant Principal, Mr. Horstman and myself.
The Mission of Challenger Middle School is: Through W.I.C.O.R. Challenger Middle School implements Common Core State Standards in a rigorous environment that creates a culture of high academic, behavior and social excellence that prepares students for High School and beyond.
The Vision of CMS is: Challenger empowers the community to be lifelong learners and engaged citizens who strive for success.
Our CMS Student Pledge is:
I am a Challenger Bulldog.
It is my responsibility
To strive for excellence in all that I do.
I will represent myself, my family, my school and community
Through my academic, behavioral and social achievements.
I am in control of my future.
I am a Challenger Bulldog
Active parent participation is crucial to your child’s academic and social success. Parents are invited to become active members of CMS. We value your input in making your child’s/children’s education a successful experience. Communication and collaboration are key for continuous success. Teachers will publish newsletters to keep you informed of all activities.
The staff and I are looking forward to planning a successful year with many challenging ideas for the students. Welcome Back!!
