A Message from Our Principal
Dear parents and members of the Melvin E. Sine community,
Welcome to our school. I say “our school” because that really is what Melvin E. Sine is, our school. We can be most successful when we teachers, parents, students, and administrators work together. We each have an important role to play. As our mission states :
“Melvin E. Sine is dedicated to the belief that all children can learn. We provide children with a supportive, caring environment that develops academic success, self respect, self-motivation, and a sense of responsibility.”
To reach this end, we have established several programs on our campus. Of course our main focus is the academic success of our students. With help and support from our district, teachers have been given materials and training, that support student success in the areas of literacy, writing , math, science, and social studies. Our dedicated staff, works hard to provide quality instruction for our students every day.
Additionally, our students participate in “Character Counts,” to help them establish traits and habits that will serve them throughout life. We have instituted “Make Your Day,” as our discipline plan to help students develop personal responsibility for their behavior. We know that our students all achieve better when their environment is both physically and emotionally safe. This can only occur when students do not interfere with the learning, safety, or well being of their peers.
We appreciate your support in our efforts to help every child be successful. We invite you to participate in your child’s education, by being involved. We welcome you to participate in our PTA. We encourage you to volunteer in your child’s classroom, to ask questions, or seek our help if needed. Together, we can help our children be successful in every way.
Sincerely,
Barbara Hill Tish Mineer
