I attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee for my undergraduate degree. Upon graduating, I received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Education.
A few months after graduation, I began a Master’s program at Arizona State University. My Master’s is in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in English as a Second Language. I graduated from ASU in December of 2009.

How many years have you taught?
I have been teaching for 4 years, but this is my first year at Desert Spirit. Last year, I taught 7th&8th grade Reading and Writing at Landmark. Prior to working at Landmark I taught at Trevor G. Browne High School.  I taught 10th and 12th grade English and did one year of inclusion with a resource teacher. I am enjoying the students and commradere at Desert Spirit and look forward to the rest of the school year!

Favorite children’s book
I would have to say my favorite book, because I teach teenagers would have to be the books in the Twilight Saga. The images in these books are so vivid that you feel as if you are actually in the scene with the characters. It is an enchanting love story that pulls you in and makes you feel that you are really connected to these characters. My students love these books, so it always gives us something to discuss.
