    Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Tuesday, September 6th, our closed campus changes will be fully enforced in the mornings and afternoons.  We appreciate your help with our new procedures to ensure safety and maximize learning time during the day. Students should not be on campus before 7:20 as we do not have teachers on duty until 7:20.

    Mornings:

The entrances that will be open for student access are the gate closest to the cafeteria and the west bus gate by the portables. Parents/guardians will be welcome to continue to enjoy breakfast with their child, but will need to sign in and out of the office and proceed with a visitor pass.  Visitors will only be allowed in the cafeteria—not in the hallways or on the playground.  Gates will be open for students from 7:20-7:40.  Any student arriving at school after 7:40 will need to enter through the office. Breakfast is free for all students and is served from 7:20-7:40.

    Afternoons:

Just a reminder we dismiss at 2:45, thank you for picking-up your child(ren) on time.  Children will come to you—exiting through one of three gates.  Parents, please wait outside of the gates to pick up your student(s).

Kindergarten pick-up: Kindergarten students will exit through the kindergarten gate closest to the primary playground.  If you are parent pick-up for kindergarten students, you will go to that gate to retrieve your child.

All 1st - 8th grade students:   Exit campus from the front double gate and the west bus gate by the portables.  Gates will be locked at 3:00--any students still on campus will then exit through the office.

Moving to a closed campus will ensure an added layer of safety for our students, requiring staff to be aware of the adults who are on campus with access to your child. Please don’t worry—this process change is not in response to something that occurred, rather a proactive approach to preventing a potential crisis.  Thank you for choosing Glendale American School.  We thank you in advance for helping us make this transition.

    Best,

    Dr. Amy Troutt
