My name is Melissa Marze and I am the very proud principal at Harold W. Smith School. Harold W. Smith School is truly a GLOBAL community with over 24 countries represented by our students and staff. We are excited to be able to share such rich cultural diversity with our surrounding community. The strength of our school is in our diversity; we are proud to have more than seven languages spoken on our campus!
The Smith School staff is committed to maintaining a focus on student learning and student achievement. Our staff works collaboratively to meet individual student needs through daily instruction with intervention and extension time built into our schedule. We are committed to our students’ success and strive to design lessons that are engaging and meaningful to our students. We are working to utilize the unique strengths that each staff member brings to support student progress and learning on our campus.
We want our parents to be engaged in their child’s learning. Our Family Services Advocate, Jenny Apodaca-Hernandez, offers many activities throughout the week to support parent engagement and to foster new learning for our families. I encourage you to check the calendar for the latest parent engagement activities on our campus. We also have multiple evening events over the course of the year, as well as monthly Coffee Talks. We look forward to working with our families to support the academic success of our students.
Smith School is a Well Managed School, incorporating Boys Town Social Skills, in addition to our positive behavior management system. We encourage our students to have “PAWS”:
· Practice Respect
· Accept Responsibility
· Work Together
· Stay Safe
Thank you for choosing Harold W. Smith School for your child’s education!
