The Glendale Elementary School District was recognized as a Model Professional Learning Community at Work by Solution Tree, one of only 200 school districts in the United States and Canada — and the only school district in Arizona — to receive this honor.
GESD was recognized by Solution Tree for its sustained success in raising student achievement. The District’s successful implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) process was a major contributing factor in the improved achievement of its students over the last three years.
Through the PLC process teachers work in collaborative teams to:
focus on learning;
build a collaborative culture; and
create a results orientation.
“We’re honored to receive this recognition and feel we are on the right track to continued improvement,” said GESD Superintendent Cindy Segotta-Jones. “This recognition is due to the poignant and important work of our staff to assure all students learn at high levels.
PLC districts and schools are recognized on the allthingsplc.info web site, where they share implementation strategies and other information with other educators looking to improve their schools.
