Questions and Answers

Question #1:

On page two of your RFQ, there is the following statement:

The quote must include:

  1. All required SFP /SFP+ Transceivers.
  2. All Category 6 patch cables
  3. All fiber optic patch cables with LC terminated ends.

Quantities for the above items are provided in the equipment list.

I see some specifications, but I don’t see any actual quantities in the equipment list for transceivers, copper patch cables or fiber patch cables.

Would you please provide the following, broken out by school:

  •  Number and length of Category 6 patch cables requested – none
  •  Number and length of fiber optic patch cables requested  - 1m
  •  Number and type of SFP+ transceivers requested (e.g. 10GE SR, 10GE LR, 10GE LRM) – 2 SFP+ transceivers compatible with current equipment.

Question #2:

     GESD Reply in red

Equipment Quantity Clarification

  • Are we are adding only 1 new Extreme X450 switch to the listed IDFs adding to the existing switches?
  • Yes, one switch to each listed IDF.

Stacking Clarification

  • What method of connecting to the existing switches is available on the existing switches.
    1. Copper or Fiber?
    2. What speed?
    3. If Fiber .. is an SFP+ transceiver required for the existing switches?
  • Ideally it will be a OM-4 fiber connection between switches, unless a  compatible stacking cable is found. Compatible SFP+ transceivers will be needed on both ends.
  • Will the connection to the existing switch be a single connection or a LAG
  • Single connection

Uplink

  • Will the new Extreme switch be the uplink back to the MDF via new Fiber being pulled?
  • Yes

How will the RFQ be awarded?

  • Will this be awarded to one vendor as a whole project to do the network infrastructure and cabling?
  • There are two separate RFQ’s and will be awarded as such.
  • Will this project be broken up and awarded to multiple vendors such as 1 vendor for cabling and 1 vendor for network equipment?
  • See prior response

 Question #3

GESD Response in Red

The scope you provided is calling out for any outdoor rated fiber optic cable to be installed in innerduct.

Will this be existing innerduct or should we provide the same amount of innerduct as fiber?

If there is interduct it can be used, but not neccessary.
